Classic Building Group was tasked with a challenging yet exciting mission: Rejuvenate the historic Winter’s building while preserving its rich architectural heritage. The goal was to create a contemporary, inviting space for Alfredo’s Social, respect the building’s storied past while equipping it for a vibrant future in Stockport’s dynamic town centre.

Architectural Brilliance: A Seamless Blend of Old and New

Upon entering Alfredo’s Social, guests are greeted by a meticulously crafted interior that speaks volumes about the building’s history. The design team, led by the renowned Paul Astill, focused on preserving original features such as the intricately detailed cornices and the beautifully restored shopfront that dates back to its days as a jeweller’s haven.

The interior layout retains the charm of the old building while introducing modern elements that ensure a contemporary dining experience. The exposed brickwork and original timber beams serve as a nostalgic nod to the building’s past, while sleek, modern fittings provide a fresh, inviting atmosphere. Using natural materials such as reclaimed wood and stone throughout the space harmonises with the historic character, creating a warm, welcoming environment.

Timepieces once marked the passage of time in the building’s former life as a jeweller’s and clockmaker’s shop. This intricate piece of machinery has been meticulously cleaned, and repainted, and is now prominently displayed in the restaurant, serving as a stunning reminder of the building’s rich heritage.
